I live on the middle floor in a 3-story aparment block. There is another
aparment block oppoosite mine.
I would like a to put a plant by my front door to have some privacy when
entering/leaving my home.
I have 3ft of space and about 7ft height to put the plant. I was
thinking of
getting a plant with vines on a trellis, but that might
effect the floor above
when overgrown.
What type of plant would anyone recommend??
Ideally I would like one with minimal upkeep and alot of privacy.

Need more info.
Is the plant meant to be inside or outside your front door? If inside, it
will be warmer. Also how much light is available? Some inside places can
be pretty dingy, and you will require a plant which doesn't need much light
to survive.

I want the plant outside my front door. The staircase is quite light
during the
day, but sometimes it gets windy. I want it for privacy when
entering/leaving my
home as my front door is overlooked by another block
of apartments.

If by "minimal upkeep" you mean something that you might well forget to
water, then you would be better off thinking about a plastic plant! Bamboos
make pretty good screens, but they like good light and most of them will not
put up with drying out. Ivy would make a good screen, but if it starts
fixing itself to the wall your landlord might have a comment or two. If you
want a quick almost-evergreen climber which will make a reasonable screen on
a trellis, you could try Lonicera japonica "Halliana". But you'll have to
thread the outward-growing runners back into the trellis, and don't forget
to keep the pruners handy.

Remember that if it hides you comming out of your door then it also
will hide anyone breaking in through the same door.
