This is something I acquired in a plant swap, can anyone identify it
please?

It's about 70 cms high and the little blue fowers with 6 petals, are 15
mm across , in a spray on a tall airy stem.
Leaves are narrow , like a small iris. It has only just started
flowering (October).

Could be an Aristea. See here for examples:

Flower is close, but too short according to

Those zimbabweflora pages only state the capsule size AFAICT, not the
tepal length. Try A. ecklonii rather than abyssinica. A. ecklonii is
one of the more common species grown.

I don't recognise the plant, but Sisyrinchium would be in the right ball
park.
