I bought a Clematis * Sunset*  6 weeks or so back and planted it in a
large terracotta pot . It wasn't in flower at the time and tho it is
growing well and looks healthy enough it has still not flowered.
The label states that it flowers from April thro Sept so would  like
to know what is the problem ........
I have put the slow release feed  sticks in the container.

Thanks for any help

If you bought a very young (small)  plant it may not flower in the
first year.

Sunset is an early large flowered hybrid and will flower May/June for around
4 weeks and again September for another 4 weeks the first lot of flowers
appear on older overwintered wood which yours did not have but it should
have its second flowering at the end of the summer.
As for the label!!

The plant is probably too busy making new roots for future food to want to
flower, especially as it does not feel threatened with survival. however it
MAY flower this year after it has sufficient root area to support flowers.
Plants are quite intelligent you know.
They know which way to send roots (down and sideways) and shoots ( up
mainly)
