Having finally got the new clock/frost-warning/outdoor temp gizmo to
work, I put the sensor behind the curtains in our bedroom last night.
At just after 6am today, the temp in the room was 17C (no heating on)
and the temp behind the curtains was 10C. Admittedly the curtains are
quite heavy linen and are interlined but a whole 7C difference
certainly shows me why we shouldn't shut plants 'out' when we close the
curtains at night!
All we have to do now is find a safe place to hang the sensor outside
the window and then we'll get a real shock, I suspect!

Do tell Sacha, how did you get it to work in the end?

I hope I've answered that properly below. But basically, I did check
batteries and 'twiddled' them then pressed both re-set buttons at the
same time and held them down for 5 or 6 seconds. It was all highly
technical so I can't possibly disclose further secrets! ;-))

In our case it occasionally works and it occasionally doesn't.
Dog works in mysterious way.

It's still working atm and is telling me that the window is 16C and the
bedroom is 18C. The window is slightly open, admittedly, but each
'gadget' is only about 3 or 4 strides from each other.
