At last it's in full flower and I picked one large twig of it
yesterday.  Its scent is perfuming the whole house and it's still a
wonder to me that those tiny little flowers can produce such a powerful
perfume. That and the Hamamelis are the first signs of a new beginning
in our garden.

Ours too. Did a bit of tidying up yesterday... saw quite a few tulips
shooting through. No weeds yet.

And a primrose in flower in a crack between paving slabs, and a 7-spot
ladybird which crawled away morosely.  14C is rather warm for January!

Does anything eat Sarcococca berries?

I have no specific information on that, (microscopics aside).

Blimey you're lucky we've got bittercress sprouting here, in pots, on
ground in crevices etc.
