It rained here in Leics most of yesterday.
It started again this evening, around 5.45, this is really solid stuff now.
Anyone not got any yet?

Here in Jersey our last 'proper' rain was in November, desalination
plants ready to roll. Yesterday and today we had some proper wetting rain
but need a helluva lot more to fill the reservoirs (and rescue my
allotment).

Desalination plantS? When did they build new ones and where did they
put them? The old one did sterling service for years but I recall that
it was going to be retired. I was amazed when talking to my aunt (who
lives in Trinity) to hear that she doesn't want mains water as it might
encourage developers where she and her few neighbours are surrounded by
farmland. Her house water is kept in a big storage tank under her lawn!

Sorry, Sacha, either slip of the keyboard or hyperbole, you choose :)
They were to retire it and un-mothballed it last October, then November
happened. We're very, very low ATM and were again set to fire it (not
them) up.

Thanks very much for answering that - I thought they'd gone raving mad,
done something sensible and finally commissioned a new one or two!
It's a bit like the Marina - that only took about 15 years of talk
before it was built - this is even longer. Flood more valleys, eh? We
renovated my son's garden for him this year and he had irrigation put
in everywhere, thank goodness. The water is drawn from his own pond
and stream so thank goodness for that, too. I was living there in '76
and people were going mad if they were on mains water, no chance of
watering their gardens at all. AFAIR, there wasn't a single drop of
rain from mid-May to mid-October.
