Just recovering from a really bad bout(?) of shingles.
Above my right eye and it has been agony with the shivers, bad dreams, pain
on my right eyebrow and in the eye, more pain, more bad dreams.
Thanks that we only get it once in a lifetime.

Very bad luck, Baz. x-ing fingers I've never had it but I understand
it's very painful and very debilitating.  Plenty of rest is needed, too!

My mum had it and said it was very painful.
It's related to chickenpox isn't it? I've had that twice.

Bad luck, but it can recur.  Sorry.

It IS chickenpox!  The virus lives in your nerve sheaths, and normally
doesn't cause any trouble, but can reerupt and cause either the skin
form (chickenpox) or the nerve form (shingles).  When I had it, I was
in no pain, but it itched like crazy, and the skin there is still
slightly sensitive after 40 years.

Regards,
Nick Maclaren.

I have no itch, but my head is so very tender to the touch.
