I went to the supermarket yesterday and bought some cooking apples to
make green tomato chutney. On top of the pack of apples was an
absolutely still ladybird. The apple pack was terribly cold and I
didn't know if ladybird was dead or alive but when I got to the
checkout, the girl tenderly removed her and I carried it outside. As
it felt a little sun, the wings opened and off she went. That made my
day!

Found a couple in our old Landrover a few days ago, must be looking to
hibernate.

That could be someone's spirit, you will get a blessing :-) No good
deed goes unnoticed.

I shifted some large empty pots the other day to find a couple of
queen wasps hibernating. Now one or two of their progeny may give
someone a nasty sting next year, but they'll also despatch vast
quantities of caterpillars and other garden pests, so I gently nudged
them out of their sleep and let them fly away to find a more secure
winter resting place.
