X-No-Archive:Yes
One of my hanging baskets of Begonia is covered in mildew, the others
are fine. They are on an automatic watering system so I don't think
it could be overwatering. What can I do to cure it and to prevent it
happening again?

Judith i assume you've got the Busy Lizzie type? It's well known that
there's Impatiens downy mildew which hits plants about now,. I know lots
of people who have lost theirs altogether, Nothing you can do, Supposed
to burn plants or chuck them in council tip. Apparently doesn't affect
New Guinea ones.
Would give you RHS page but their website seems out of order today.
They look straggly then like they've been ravaged by snails or something
and they just sort of crumble away.
Sorry - not sure there's likely to be a cure at the moment.

Thanks Janet, I did mean Buzy Lizzie type, I won't grow them again. I
chose them this year because I was spending too much time deheading
Petunia every day, I would like to find some other easy bedding plant
for contains and baskets that don't need too much maintenance as I
simply don't have time to do it.

Try Bacopa (aka Setura) Sphaeralcea and Lotus berthelottii, Judith. At
present, we have a Sphaeralcea with soft grey green leaves and pink
flowers, tumbling over the edge of pots. It flowers over a long period
and is very pretty.
