Hi all. I'm new to this group and a bit of a reluctant gardener. My
little lawn is full of dandelions. What can I use to get rid of them
and get a better lawn?

Hello and welcome.
At this time of year, it's a bit late to use weedkiller so you might
try just easing them out with a hand fork. If you're careful you can
just loosen the soil enough to pull them out (make sure you get the
whole root as the smallest bit left behind will regrow) and then
gently press the surrounding turf down again.
Otherwise, for now just chop off any odd flowers that form on the
weeds, to stop any chance of seed, and then, in the spring, use a
liquid lawn weedkiller such as Verdone (read and follow the
instructions) - you may need a couple of treatments. Then give the
lawn a good feed to get the grass growing strongly.
There are dry weed and feed mixes (powder/granule things) that you can
use but they need to be applied with care to avoid burning lines in
the grass - hence I always suggest liquid options in the first
instance.
Cheers, Jake

Excellent advice from Jake. It's too late now to do anything in the
way of chemical treatment until the spring.
And I agree not to use dry weed-and-feed. I have never found it to
spread sufficiently evenly. Use a watering-can with a fine rose (and
wash it out well afterwards)
Good luck and report back when you've done it!

Slim enough to go in and with a bit of a cutting bit on the end.
