Ray went 'up the field' to shut the chickens into their hut for the
night and saw a large grey cat like creature sitting down, staring at
the ground - not the chickens! He reckons that when seated, its head
was about 2' tall. He raised his walking stick (used to shut the coop
door without having to turn off the eclectic fence) and made a horrible
noise and the critter legged it. He came back here and got the dog who
went like a dingbat trying to follow the trail. R swears it wasn't a
fox, wrong colour and face shape and if it was a cat, it was the mother
and father of all moggies. Hmmmm....I think we'll have to spend a
while sitting up there tomorrow at dusk.

Seem to be a spate of reports down here of sightings of unusually large
black cats and large scale scratch marks from claw stropping on trees

Well, I hope they haven't migrated from Cornwall to Devon! We saw a
deer running up a nearby lane the other day - it's getting even more
like Dr Dolittle around here.

I've got a roe deer in the garden - it's nourishing a quince (oblongata)
tree...

All moved over from East Angular, then. Must like a warmer climate.
