I've got a shrub in my garden that I can't identify. It is possibly
self-seeded - well I didn't plant it, anyway. It is probably 2 or 3
years old now, and is about 3 feet tall. It is evergreen (or
semi-evergreen), and has dangling small white flowers with purple
bracts. It has been flowering since mid June (high up in the Pennines).
There's a picture of the full shrub at
http://homepage.ntlworld.com/barkisland/shrub.jpg
and a close-up of the flowers and leaves at

Does anyone know what it is please?

It has a great many names, pheasant berry - granny`s curls - himalayan
honeysuckle and Leycesteria. I have a huge one in my garden and love it,
as do the birds :-)

I had one that came out of nowhere, but only after looking at your
pictures have I reilised it is no longer there, so maybe they go as
quickly as they come?
