I know rain is needed but must it come all at once?!  I was caught in a
ferocious downpour and almost came home from Ashburton by boat!  Mixed
with the rain was some hail, very strange having both at once.  Now
it's sunny but with black clouds creeping up over the hills.

We have had brilliant sunshine and rain here on the Isle of Wight today.

I am trying to get down our 'little' garden at the moment to empty the
peelings for the evening meal into the compost heap, but the weather is so
iffy.

Here in the Swansea Bay (East) microclimate, it's been nicely warm and
sunny all day. Were it not for a report writing deadline I'd have been
out in the garden planting more tulip bulbs.

Cheers, Jake

URGling from the less wet end of Swansea Bay where about the
same moisture-wise as the more wet end.

Here in West London we have only had the lighest sprinkling of drizzle
but allegedly, it p*ssed down in central London.  Much gardening was
undertaken by SWMBO;  I looked after the consumption of Gin.

Tomorrow, the new shed is supposed to arrive.  I have planned a
delivery route through the building site that currently is next door
via a gap in the party wall.  Assembly is planned for Thursday
afternoon.   The delivery was somewhat earlier than scheduled and I
had to put in a bit of effort to sort out the base in short order.  As
luck would have, the builder next door had over estimated the amount
of sharp sand that he needed to conduct his activities - by about 5
tonnes.  The cost of hiring a skip to take away the excess roughly
equates to the cost of the sand, so I got it for free.

I should have used a slightly richer cement mix however.  The
Illegitimus fox scrabbled several gouges on the surface of the base
that I had carefully layed.  Nothing structural, but it still p*ssses
me off.  I remain content that the blighters will not undermine the
foundations and if they do, their b@stard paws will suffer because I
used the opportunity to bury a load of greehouse glass left by the
previous occupant.

My fruit cage is still under attack from the foxes, but I have a
cunning plan involving a stack of reclaimed slabs.  In the meantime
chicken wire, Agriframes groundhooks and Engineering bricks will have
to suffice.

I have some roughly cultivated ground available.  If the weather is
clement, I may plant some broad beans.  If it isn't, I will take more
Gin on board and try again on Thursday.

JonH

I pelted it down here all day yesterday and ferocious SE winds forced
the sea over the walls down on the front.  Up close to home the drains
were popping like jack-in-the-boxes and the roads ran like the Amazon
in full flood.  It was really quite entertaining.  We've not had any
serious rain for months so this very deep drenching is helping to
replace much needed moisture.  Lovely warm sun until 3pm today and
then another hour of truly proper rain.  Wonderful stuff!
