Sigh...as if each egg didn't cost enough, the silly critters are now
eating their own - or each other's.  Who knows?  Anyone with experience
know why and how to stop it?  I'm beginning to get seriously irritated
with these spoiled brats!!  ;-)

Blow an egg, fill it with made mustard, and put it back...or that's
what I was told. The only time I tried it, I decided to go one better,
and used cayenne, which would of course have an even greater deterrent
effect. Did it, b*****y! The girls loved it. Maybe mustard really is
the answer.

I wouldn't expect that to work, as chickens I thought couldn't taste 'hot'
things.  Hence why if you have a rat problem the advise is to fill the food
with chilli powder, cos the chickens don't mind it, but the rats do.

Thanks everyone.  As seem to be the case always, everyone has a
different hen experience!  ;-)  Ray thought there was something about a
china egg...  They're a perishing nuisance and they're not even laying
very well atm.  They now have two coops (between 6 hens) to try to stop
two pecking the others' bums but they insist on trying to scramble over
the Berlin Wall that divides them, because apparently they wish to be
together and get pecked anyway, they have a hugely long run, pellets,
grit, seed and gallons of water, nesting material, you name it.  I
think they're just perverse!

Ours peck, but I'm pretty sure it's just What They Do, rather than a space
issue.  They have plenty of space.
