I am minded to procure a greehouse, probably 8' x 6' (ish). Any
recommendations of which makes to select or which to avoid? (I'm
favouring glass rather than plastic glazing, despite being to the west
of London where the two-legged vermin is active.) A 25-year product
life should see me out. Have googled and sent off for a few
catalogues/brochures, but experience and recommendations are worth
their weight in gold.
TIA

Robinsons get my vote (for strength, longevity, design of doors etc)
Don't waste your money on cheap stuff from
DIY sheds. Whichever brand you decide, get the biggest one you can
afford/fit in, and fit a couple of automatic roof vents during
construction.

If you can find one that You can get extensions for it's worth
considering as it will never be large enough

Janet/Dave:
Thaks for the advice. I'll explore further.
I am in the process of returning lawns (no longer nececssary after the
children have flown the nest) to more productive use. I inherited a 4
m x 8 m fruit cage which I am 'rehabilitating'. My conservatory is
full of Chilli plants that I need to 'rehome'.
On another topic, I have started to create an 'Acer Glade', protected
from the noonday sun by an arc of Bamboo. Tomorrow, I'll be going out
to procure another Acer and probably another Bamboo to extend the
plot.
Last Friday, we visited the Cambridgeshire Garden Show. I would
recommend it to anyone within reach. Being the start of a weekend
away, temptation was necessarily damped down. Now't would have
survived in the car over the weekend. Next year, I'll change the
itinerary and we'll drop off on the way back.

We bought a Halls Popular 8x6 recently and are thrilled with it. Although
my husband (and friends) began to set it up initially themselves, they had
to call in the experts for glazing as things got a bit tricky. However,
it's become a wonderful transparent 'hideaway' for me, well....it was
transparent....it's now completely green with courgettes, lettuces,
tomatoes, spring onions, peppers, herbs, strawberries etc, all growing
sky-high!
