Leeks, sprouts, purple sprouting broc and savoy cabbages don't mind the
frost - oh and parsnips too - but I don't have anything like that in my so
far empty raised beds this year - but this time next December I surely hope
to :)

That's pretty much what we have in. And some stuff like tiny potatoes
called oca that Nick found. They are ... odd.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oca
(My neighbour nearly weeded them up when we were on holiday whilst she
was on picking duty!)
We've only dug up half of them so far, only had them roasted - they
taste a bit like pre-vinegarred chips!
And ours are a lot more knobbly than that photo!
Also, we really ought to try and get rid of the damned jerusalem
artichokes some time. I swear I got rid of every tiny little bit last
year, and yet there is a whole bed of them plaguing me again!!

Oh bless it - brave little thing. ;-) We've had some violets out
here and there and it's a lovely surprise to find them. I'm nursing a
wretched cold atm and haven't been out hunting for them today but Ray
said it was 0C when he went out in the car mid-morning.

Thanks, Val - it's doing the rounds of the family, as is a tummy bug.
O joy, o rapture! I'm getting a lot of online Christmas shopping done,
though. ;-)
