My allotment neighbour won't be picking any this year.
His plot backs onto a hedge and he tends the blackberry which produces
good crops. He's also been leaving a patch of nettles for the
butterflies.
The committee have employed "a man" to go round with a strimmer to
tidy all the paths and edges. He obviously got tired of grass and cut
down the nettles and brambles! Perhaps he mistook the word "edges"
for " hedges"!

We planted a Black Butt blackberry last year, pick the first a couple of
weeks ago (blackbirds have been picking them for a month :-( ) they are
a loganberry cross and the fruit is about 2" long, The taste is very
intense if picked when only just ripe, the amount of flavour falls of
when they are fully ripe.
