It's dry today and there are patches of blue sky with just a bit of a
breeze. But it's chilly and certainly enough so to wear a coat over a
cotton top when going outside. Ray has even got a fleece over his
shirt, so I know it's getting colder! On Wednesday night we had just
over 1" of rain and autumn is certainly upon us. I'm just about to fill
up the log basket for this evening!

We haven't put the heating on yet but I did shut the windows today for the
first time since spring. Won't be long now until the gas meter starts
spinning.

We never switch our heating off but rely on the thermostats to decide
when to turn the heat on or off. The boiler has a stat the circulator
pump has a stat and every radiator has a stat. It works quite well.

If we didn't turn the heating off, it would have come on today, as Nick has
it set at 21 during the day, and glancing at it today it was down to 19. It
definitely didn't need to be on today.

We rarely open the windows, it's normally too cold and/or too windy.
Min last night of 3.2C todays max 14.3C but the wind had a keen edge.
Needed a fleece under my boiler suit when out cleaning and fixing
back a downspout.

Same here, that and the 20 odd tonnes of solid stone wall through the
middle of the house that needs to be kept warm. If we allow that to
get cool, it takes days, literally, before the house is comfortable
again. But it does regulate the interior temperature very well, cool
in summer warm in winter.
