I have bought some Connover's Colossal asparagus crowns on the cheap, £2
for 4 crowns.(I bought 12 crowns)
They are in a sealed plastic container and are shooting, some are 6".
Should I plant them shoots and all, or remove them?

Thanks
Baz

Of course you should remove them from the plastic bags.  :-)

Plant them shoots and all.

Another Question
The info on the container says to allow 1' between each plant, and 3'
between rows.
Why? 1' one way and 3' the other way.
Is this because the roots will send out new shoots with time and create a
mass of produce in years to come? Like a blanket?
I am asking, because as you know asparagus, planted, are for life not just
for......and will occupy one of my best areas during my lifetime, so I have
to get it right first time.
