Went to my local Tesco yesterday (Ryde, Isle of Wight) and they have 75%
off of all seeds. As an example of the discount, I picked up some Unwins
busy Lizzies price on the pack £1.99 price I paid at the till £0.49.
All the seed packs were in a one box which you had to sort through
instead of the usual display, I would imagine all Tescos are doing the
same.

Yeeeeessss. There could be a reason they're selling bizzies seeds off
cheaply. You have heard/read about what's been happening to them this
year, haven't you? A lot of people/nurseries/garden centres are going
to give up growing them altogether. This is not to say yours will
definitely be affected but it might be worth consideration.

This year I grew and planted out 793 buzzies (sick aren't I - I
counted). 787 got that fungus (I know that because there were 6 that
didn't). Next year I'm growing New Guineas. I tried the Sunpatiens
type this year but was not impressed. I still have NGs in flower in
pots and one plant's the size of about six or more of the little ones.
So about a hundred of those should see me OK.
And frankly I prefer to buy seed of a brand I know - I get better
germination rates with Dobies/Suttons, for example, than I do with Mr
Fothergill. Buying cheap seed saves money now but when you sow it next
year and it germinates poorly, by the time you find out it may be too
late to sow more.
Cheers, Jake
