mozzarella for a salad. lettuce and cucumbers come in handy as well for salads. i prefer the lemon cucumbers, myself. yuh can just pick what yuh need. a little parsley is always nice, too. i don't know anyone that uses a whole parsley "bunch" at a time. if'n you're gonna plant parsley, you may as well plant some tarragon, - 3

0000, dael most herbs will grow well in adverse conditions and some seem to thrive on neglect. i grow rue, thyme, rosemary, lavender, mint, parsley , garlic, chives, oregano and sage. the parsley survives one winter. the garlic, chives and parsley appreciate small amounts of organic (fish emulsion, rotted cow manure, leaf mold, etc) - 3

Herbs bring a special element to an ordinary dish

here's proof: make a paste of chives, fresh rosemary, garlic and olive oil, and rub it into a pork roast the night before you roast it. or snip some fresh parsley to sprinkle over your pasta sauce. how about dicing fresh basil to sprinkle over heirloom tomatoes? the cook's hand with herbs is the difference between cooking and creating. and - 3

soil up at my place and so far the 30 or so carrots i have pulled have been straight. i'm on wa's gutless grey sand. next to that spot i planted hamburg parsley and added chicken manure to the sheep and cow mix. so far the roots i have harvested have been like mid sized parsnips, taste like them too, and are so good roasted. - 2

shading if practical (it would be practical & simple to shade only 1 sq metre). they should be fine. in response to the o.p: i'd put in: 1 each of curly parsley and italian parsley (both of which will end up everywhere once they seed) 1 thyme or lemon thyme 1 small patch each of chives and garlic chives if possible, a hanging rosemary - 2

Rotten parsley

my bed of parsley is doing really well except now and then a plant dies over a period of a week or two. the roots turn to mush and then the leaves wither and turn yellow. i reckon it's a fungus attacking the roots. the question is: what sort of fungus is it and how do i deal with it? david - 2

slaters

surviving basil plants and a tomato. the coriander went first. the lettuce was looking good for about 4 or 5 days, then overnight i lost everything except a couple of stalks. the parsley is dead too, but that could be the heat. can't be sure, but i suspect slaters. there are thousands of the things, but they don't seem to do any harm to - 1

parsley do you live? are these plants that've been in the ground since last summer, or new ones you installed this season? describe the growing conditions (shade, sun, etc) and what your weather's been like. - 1

1 sq mtr 1 tyhme, 1 oregano, 1 sage, one parsley and one sweet marjoram or 1 rosemary or a pot of mint they are mostly perennials too or self seed. - 1
