Don't forget National Beanpole Week starts on Saturday - loads of
special events this year, including a beanpole fayre. See
http://www.beanpoles.org.uk  for more...

Britain lost around 500,000 acres of its coppice woodland during the
last century - 90% of its coppiced woodland. So you can support our
woodlands, and your beans, by coming along to an event or simply by
buying British coppiced beanpoles this year.

Toby Buckland is event patron this year.

I'm stunned. Who would have thought?

Dept. of Defense budget: $663.8 billion
Dept. of Health and Human Services budget: $78.4 billion

Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies in
the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are
cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is
spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of
its children. This is not a way of life at all in any true sense. Under the
clouds of war, it is humanity hanging on a cross of iron.
