This is my first time growing potatoes, unfortunately the frost has got them
and the lovely lush growth has gone brown. What should i do, have i lost
the crop?
Leave them alone. They will come back. As they grow, keep covering the
green with dirt until you have 6 to 10 inches of dirt on top of your
original cutting. That will protect them from frost, and will give you more
potatoes. You probably already knew that they dont put out roots to grow
potatoes, the new potatoes form on the growth above the cutting. I didnt
the first couple of times I planted them, and always wondered why I didnt
get very many.
