I love hostas for shady areas. There are lots of varieties ranging from six
inches tall to 3 feet tall and wide.
> have a very small garden in a terraced house, with a 2-4 foot wide border
> all around.
> In one corner v.little light gets through, I would like to get 2 types of
> plants
> 1. Taller to provide cover over the trellace for some privacy
> 2. smaller plants to place at the base of tall plants (1)
> I planted jsamine a few yrs ago to cover the trellace at the back and its
> grown too well. The green bit has concentrated at the top so there are no
> leaves below 4 foot - just very woody and you can see the poor quality
wall
> behind. These leaves follow the sun so it overhangs the soil bed below
> cutting out the light. I've chopped it back for now.
> Any suggestions?
