G'day
Checking the Sydney Botanic Gardens website it seems the only way to
have a plant ID'd is by presenting a specimen in person. Does anyone
know of an organisation that you can email a photo to?

Use one of the free posting sites on the web and post a link here.
Seems a bit of knowledge is around for common garden plants.
Other stuff might take a while of to and fro.
Location of plant? Type?
