Two strokes can seize, or simply loose compression due to rings
overheating and loosing tenson, also the bore can get awfully scored,
and in my experience, if the mowers a quality mower the bore "may"
survive. But as most arent good quality you may not be that lucky.
Buy a for stroke next time. They are a lot less trouble and can live for
   many years longer than two strokes. I'd pull it a apart and see what
damage has been done. But you probably dont have the tools. A good
library could help you.
