Yes, its bermuda grass growing in an area where nothing else will, or
excessively dry. That's why its ill appearance in the picture. Bermuda
grass is fine if you don't have a garden nearby, as it will take over your
garden if you blink too long. And, you won't be able to get it out of the
garden at that point.
Bermuda grass spreads by seed, stringers as seen in the upper LH part of the
picture, and from the source outwards in a radial fashion both on the
surface and underground. Does well in sun and shaded areas. Some strains
are drought resistant. Requires alot of trimming in border areas where you
don't want it.
